You may think that you are the only one to get into this debate but you are not alone at all. Regardless of how much you want the dog, the first reaction is usually a flat out no.
Kids asking for a pet is like a rite of passage and something that most kids fund frustrating. The dialogue is usually the same in households all across the country no matter where.
The classic situation is where a kid wants a dog or a pet and asks their parents for a pet. They are almost always met with the same responses.
But you can do certain things that will help you to get on the road to getting Fido. The fact is that your parents really believe that no matter what you say, they will be taking care of the dog.
Something you have to prove is that you are responsible enough to take care of the pet by yourself. You really need to demonstrate your ability to be trustworthy and dependable.
A way to show that you can handle the responsibility is to demonstrate it through doing other things properly. Once you show that you can do other things properly than you will have more credibility.
Also, make sure that they know that you are serious. If they think it is just a joke they won’t even entertain the possibility of getting you a pet.
If you need to do it, just start balling and let those tears flow. It is tough for a parent to see a child crying.
